Im not a HUGE fan of going to hip hop/rap concerts, but if I went to one, this would be it. More than half the lineup is in my personal favorite: Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Mos Def, Ghostface, Method Man and Redman, Dead Prez, MURS, Cool Kids, Jay Electronica, Wale, & Kidz in the Hall. Its in the Chi, which is close enough for me to go, but the problem is, I'll be close to 10,000 miles away in Sydney (and YES! I did google map that to see how many miles! hahaha).

W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.
The more Lupe Fiasco puts out garbage music, the more I search for a replacement -- found it!
WALE (pronounced Wah-Lay)
Just put out a new mixtape called "The Mixtape About Nothing" and its gettin pretty hyped up (well, underground hype...) Might I add he's on my favorite Roots song of their latest album. Might I add he's done work with Rhymefest and Mark Ronson. Oh, and he's worked with this guy named Lil Wayne -- you might have heard of him too. Lyrically, he's one of the most well rounded MCs and he covers everything! He rips on stupid dance/hip hop songs ("so if you aint got a dance then revoke your spittin, so good rappers aint eatin they Olson twin'in) and he does a couple songs over some old Roots tracks on the mixtape. Check out this video of his "single" tho for a little taste...

Yellow, Green, Orange w/ Bling, Scraper Bikes Is On The Scene
"these have to be the most productive people in society"
Best. Rap. Battle. EVER!
"See Im the best mang, I deed it..."
Where do I start with this video?!?! LOL.
1. Not only does the host suck, but I think I read off the teleprompter at Lincoln Elementary in our tv studio better than him when I was 8.
2. Why was the host feeling up the judge at the beginning? hahaha.
3. Mad props to the two contestants tho -- THAT WAS HOT!!!
4. The track -- EVEN HOTTER!!!
5. Rap Battle First -- when the track kicks in, both contestants cant help but start dancing...
6. Eli freezing up makes Eminem look like a star on his first battle in 8 Mile!
7. Top of the line camera work
8. "Look at this dude he need to stay in the shade, aint no wonder why he came out, he already in the gay parade"
9. Eli tries to pick something out of his teeth (or something) during his rap
I can only imagine how hard it would be to try and do a rap battle with a 5th grade education like these kids...

Jamie Lidell
Heard this song today. Never heard of Jamie Lidell but I'm looking at his discography now and I guess he has 5 cds. Going to see if I can find any of them for d/l and I'll let you all know if he's any good. Initially sounds like Maroon 5 meets Ray Charles... (I'm usually horrible at these, and I couldn't decide if Ray was right -- someone let me know if I'm crazy or a better combo to describe his sound...)listen here
Clutchy Hopkins
Of all the music I listen to, 'Walking Backwards' by Clutchy Hopkins is probably the most played cd on my Ipod. It's got a jazzy hip hop sound, and for me, it's perfect for listening to while reading or studying. There's only one track off his cd with lyrics, the rest are just instrumentals. The only 3 things better than his music are his beard, the mystery surrounding who he is, and the fact that he did a cd with MF Doom.http://www.clutchyhopkins.com/
two of my favorite songs from Walking Backwards
(not official videos or anything, just a way to stream the songs)
Percy On The One
and
Love Of A Woman
Stuff White People Like
This is a really cool blog I found a while back. Basically the title explains everything, but you should check out the list and read a few of the postings. I would recommend the one on assists. I have to agree with most of the reasonings and its pretty funny.http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/
Universal Mind Control
New Common song featuring Pharrell. I kinda like this song -- just got it today and need a few more listens though...Some stupid radio/DJ talks over some of the track but its all I could find for now...

Say Goodbye To Love Remix
So Lupe just did a remix to my favorite Kenna joint - Say Goodbye To Love. A little disappointed with his verse though. His new style is starting to annoy me... Listen for yourself.or

MSU vs UNC - Basketbowl II
Just found out today that MSU plays UNC in the Big 10 / ACC Challenge this year. The game is going to be at Ford Field in Detroit on Dec 3rd -- which means I wont be back in time to go to it!!! (Hopefully I'll get the watch it over in Sydney at least...) Will the attendance record be broken? Last time MSU played Kentucky there they set the record for the largest crowd in basketball history (78,129) in the initial Basketbowl. Hopefully this time MSU will be able to hold it down at home...
Fact: Naledge is better than 95% of MCs

For those of you who don't know, or listen to good hip hop, Naledge is 1/2 of the duo that makes up Kidz In The Hall. Here's some new freestyle (actually, I hate when tracks are titled "freestyle" when we all know damn well its not a true freestyle...) thats pretty good. Check it out...
I'm trying to figure out how to stream music on this page, until then, you'll be directed to another page to listen to files... it sucks, i know. but check it out: http://boxstr.com/files/2120262_suysp/naledge_freestyle.mp3
PS - I love black people who dress white and rap, lol
